TrashBench Jank PC #001

TRASHBENCH JANK PC #001

$399 AUD | ONE AVAILABLE

OWN A GENUINE PIECE OF TRASHBENCH JANK.

I've cobbled together a gaming PC from a collection of spare parts lying around the garage.

It's got an RX 6600, an i5-8400, two completely different sticks of RAM, and a 450W power supply rescued from a supermarket PC.

The RAM doesn't match, the PSU only has a 4-pin CPU connector, and none of these components were ever intended to live together.

But here we are.

I've thrown the whole lot into a brand-new Cougar case, fitted a DeepCool CPU cooler, and added enough RGB to make it look like a 5080 belongs in there.

And because I have too much shit lying around, I'm throwing in a 27-inch Philips monitor too.

It's actually a pretty decent little 1080p gaming setup.

THE HARDWARE

THE PC

  • CPU: Intel Core i5-8400 — 6 cores / 6 threads

  • GPU: ASRock Radeon RX 6600 8GB

  • Motherboard: ASRock H370 Pro4

  • RAM: 16GB DDR4 2400MHz — mismatched sticks

  • Storage: 500GB SSD

  • CPU Cooler: DeepCool tower cooler

  • Power Supply: FSP Fortron 450W

  • Case: Brand-new Cougar case with RGB fans

  • Operating System: Windows 11

THE MONITOR

  • Model: Philips 271S9/75

  • Size: 27 inches

  • Resolution: 1920 × 1080 (Full HD)

  • Panel: IPS

  • Refresh Rate: 75Hz

THE FINE PRINT

This is a one-off TrashBench creation, assembled from a mixture of new and used components.

The Cougar case is brand-new. Everything else has had a previous life.

The PC has been assembled, powered on, boots into Windows and recognises the installed hardware.

I haven't spent three days benchmarking it, and I'm not promising 400 FPS in Cyberpunk.

It's just a perfectly usable budget gaming PC with a questionable family tree.

What you see is what you get.
